Basic Information
The Haleakala National park is located on the tropical island of Maui, Hawaii. It officially became a park in the year 1980. It has had about 1,963,187 total recreation visits. The park has breathtaking mountains that follow the coastline of the Pacific ocean. From the rocky volcanoes to the sparking blue coast the Haleakala is about 28,968.52 acres. The Haleakala is covered with wildlife, like the Hawaiian Petrel- the 'Ua'u and the Hawaiian goose- the Nene. If you took a trip to this park you would see the endangered and injured birds along the trails and highways. This is a problem for other animals because they need the birds as food to survive. This park has about 850 different species of plants throughout the park.
